-ABOUT-

BENJAMIN LUKE MITCHELL:

I’ve been travelling around the world by different means since 2012.

These journeys (  Trips & Milestones →  ) have taken me through a range in lifestyles from heavily relying on outdoor equipment to minimalist adventures without luggage, travelling in many countries in Asia, Europe and America with nothing but a bum bag. I have also lived remotely in a tent, walking and hitchhiking across Norway and much of Northern Europe.

CURRENT PROJECT: SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL.

LOST YET FREE:

Lost Yet Free began quite a few years after my fascination for travel.

The idea was to incorporate my experiences onto a platform that could be easily accessed and shared.

My vision for the project is to develop and grow creatively through content creation and visual story telling. I’m wanting to capture and reveal glimpses into my simple nomadic life in new ways that allow me to experiment and challenge my creativity. I aim to produce expressive video narratives and offer advice through tutorials and written work.

I originally had my reservations about this website. It started as simple note taking; recording the names of places I'd visited, people I'd met, dates, that type of thing. My first trip (  Ultralight Active Travel →  ) actually saw me buying and packing a small notepad to fill. I soon digitalised and sent the book back to England and onward to the cue for loft space storage.

Throughout my years of adulthood, my personal online presence hasn't been something I've ever wanted to flaunt or promote. Consequently, the information on here exists primarily because of a desire to document and record my progress. Not is there any inherent aim to pursue a path of ego, of self-praised travel writings that too commonly exist and easily succeed at being cliché and banal.

'Lost Yet Free' is an attempt at collecting and sharing information learned on all approaches to travel and outdoor pursuits. From ambitious, distant adventures with no luggage, to wild excursions with a tent, there are countless ways to experience new reaches of the globe.

With a touch of introspection thrown in, I hope this project can assist someone other than myself.

I travelled because I was lost. I was lost because I travelled.

& repeat.
