-MINIMALIST TRAVEL-

GLOBAL TRAVEL WITH NOTHING BUT A BUM-BAG.

Extreme ease and simplicity. Minimalist travel, is that really a thing?

Beginning from an early decision to travel with carry-on luggage only, in 2015 I decided to send my small bag back to England from Asia and travel with no luggage. I have since travelled through Asia, Europe and South America with nothing but a bum bag.

By using a minimalist system to your advantage, you will have more freedom and added flexibility.

Don't see your baggage limit as an entitlement to fill. When we travel with this mind-set, we are burdened, unable to explore from A to B or to fit onto public transport without immense discomfort.

Question everything that you carry with you. Why do you need it? Do you unnecessarily rely upon it?

Try not to take it. It's healthy to rely on less, to have less plastic identities.

Require and acquire only the essentials. Appreciate how little you really need.

50litre bags don't pack themselves. 15kg bags don't carry themselves.

Bum bag global travel - the only negative to travelling light is helping carry other peoples luggage.

True Minimalist Travel - Part V | The Long-Term Personal Impact of Minimalism

Global travel with nothing but a bum bag - Video 5/ The personal effects of travelling without luggage. In this episode, I reflect on how minimalism has had a lasting influence on my life. I explore some of the positive and negative implications from living out of a tiny bag. Throughout my travels, I've learnt that the best way to face any pre-trip concerns is simply to begin. We sometimes pay too much attention to all the minor details which add up and can make us lose sight of our primary objectives. By choosing minimalist travel, we are placing all our focus onto just the important things that we really need...but can minimalism become a distraction in itself? Thank you very much for watching! Bum Bag Travel for Women | True Minimalist Travel - Part VI

Global travel with nothing but a bum bag - Video 6/ Ultralight packing differences for men & women. This episode is for those who wish to travel ultralight but still feel unable to do so. I specifically look into the few essentials that women might need, beyond the basics I carry in my bum bag. Acknowledging prevalent gender distinctions, the video suggest some minimalist packing tips for those that might depend on more. My intention is to show how travel without luggage can still be accessible for all. For this episode, I have a little help from my girlfriend, Talise. I tried to make her think differently and I hope it can encourage you to think a little differently too. I wanted Talise to consider preparing to leave for a no-luggage adventure. I asked her to share the minimum she could leave with, beyond the items I carry. These are her key minimalist essentials, the crucial extra items she couldn’t go without. Thank you very much for watching! Benjamin True Minimalist Travel series - Part VII coming soon. Are you considering minimalist travel? Steps to Becoming a Minimalist Traveller | True Minimalist Travel - Part VII

Global travel with nothing but a bum bag - Video 7/ The barriers before travelling without a backpack. When undertaking a minimalist transformation there are personal, physical and mental challenges to confront before leaving with almost no luggage. For this episode, I wanted to consider how others could start to approach a no-baggage trip. I looked at my girlfriends perspective to packing and asked her whether she could leave with less. I was curious if she could ever imagine taking a no-luggage trip and if so, what would be her notable barriers to overcome. Can I convince my girlfriend to travel without luggage? Talise knows too well not to pack too much, she knows how to carry almost nothing, however, she still chooses a lot to pack. This video shares more of her packing story, which involves some heavy struggles along the way. Minimising my baggage, transformed the way I experience the world. I love ultralight adventures, but traveling with one small bag whilst in a relationship uncovers a striking polarity. Travel is personal, therefor only you can decide how much is necessary. By sharing my thinking behind why I travel the way I do, I hope this series helps those wanting to take their next step in ultralight travel. The main obstacle to travelling light can be helping carry other peoples bags. Thank you very much for watching! Benjamin True Minimalist Travel series - Part VIII coming soon. A Guide to Ultralight Packing | True Minimalist Travel - Part VIII

Global travel with nothing but a bum bag - Video 8/ The beginner's guide to minimalist travel, a guide to actually starting. In this episode, I wanted to share my personal approach to leaving with less. These are some of my main tips for you to start minimising your own luggage. How we start a trip can be more crucial than we often might think. It will likely define the type of experiences we have, from the way we move around, to the options that become available to us, all of which shape our style of travel, including our very ease and spontaneity of making decisions. By packing less and packing light, you will be well on your way to getting the most out of your travels before you’ve even left home. Begin your trip without hinderance by preparing and scrutinising all the items you will take. In this episode, I mention a couple of fundamental mistakes I initially made before my first oversees trip and I give eight or so recommendations that should help you get going. I summarise what minimalist travel means to me and why you shouldn’t let luggage hinder your travels. Thank you very much for watching! Benjamin True Minimalist Travel series - Part IX coming soon.
